We have just returned from our first show for the year (Gatton Western Breeds Spectacular AA QH Show) and are very pleased to report that our only horse shown, Barpassinova did us proud by winning the Amateur Western Pleasure and placing 2nd in the Junior Horse Western Pleasure.

We are very excited to annouce our recent purchase of Hip N Vested from Callaway Performance Horses in northern California. Hip N Vested is an overo yearling colt sired by Vested Pine AQHA Congress champion, Congress and World Champion sire and sire of the 2007 $250,000 Reichert champion, Invest N Vital Signs, AQHA. His APHA dam is by Paint Me Zippo and is a full sister to the 4 time World Show buckle winner Zipman. Hip N Vested is remaining in the US under the care and guidance of Julie Thompson-Martell of JTM Performance Horses for the Yearling Lungeline futurities in 2008 and then for the commencement of his ridden career in the 2yo WP futurities in 2009. We thank Katie and Matt for the opportunity to purchase this outstanding young colt, and also Julie and Dale for their hospitality during our recent visit to the US to inspect "Harley". Keep an eye on our Show Team page for updates and photos when they become available.

We have barely got over the excitement of our last foal when this morning another beautiful baby arrived in our paddocks. A loud chestnut overo filly by One Hot Krymsun out of our Loots Image mare Loocille. Thats 2 from 2 coloured babies for us by One Hot Krymsun - fantastic! Visit our foals page for a picture.

She's here! Our first The Big Sensation baby has arrived. We missed with the colour genie, but she is her dad all over. A chestnut filly with a blaze and 2 white socks and big long legs just like her daddys!
13 September 2007
Ok, PLEASED is an understatement - we are absolutely ecstatic, over the moon, very, very excited to announce the arrival of our first One Hot Krymsun foal. Born last night, a loud chestnut overo colt. Please visit our foals page to indulge!

Rain... rain... rain!!! Foaling season is upon us and so finally is some rain! We have had approx 3 inches here this week which is more rain than we have seen in August for 5 years! The green tinge everywhere is most inspiring. Lots of muddy horses - but mud is a necessary evil for grass growth.
We have had two foals born already this year. The first is a "cute as a button" solid bay filly by Ford Shameless Cowboy out of our buckskin Tall Dark n Radical mare Totaly Cool n Radical. She arrived 2 weeks early on the 10th August. The second foal arrived on Thursday August 23rd and is a sabino filly by HF Somethin Hot. She is out of Lootscootin KC and is KC's first foal. Check out the photos on our foal page and you will see that it was a pretty big effort for KC. She spent most of her first day of motherhood lying down recuperating while her foal bounced around her happily showing off that super Sam lope.
Next to foal is Circle K Peppered Love with the first of our One Hot Krymsun babies, followed by El Eban Deliverance with the first of our The Big Sensation babies.
In more breeding news we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of frozen semen from the APHA All Time Leading Sire of Paint Horses - Zippos Sensation. All the paperwork is currently being shuffled and stamped and then it should be on a plane in the next few days making its way to Oz.
We visited the World Show in June this year in Fort Worth, Texas and it is no wonder that Zippos Sensation is the all time leading sire of Paint Horses in the world. His progeny dominated all the major pleasure classes, including youth and amateur. No other sire has had such a profound influence and with this stallion its not stallion owner hype. You can actually see the progeny in the flesh out there doing it and doing it well.
We also caught up with The Big Sensation (aka Jerry) when he had a few quiet moments back in his stall. What a lovely natured stallion. He is like a big puppy dog and he was more than happy to let us stand in his stall with him and give him a pat. Our thanks to Sharnai for allowing us to visit with him. Congratulations also go to Jerry and his connections for attaining the High Point English Horse and Reserve All Round Open title at the World Show

The National Pleasure Horse Association (NPHA) show has now been and gone and the Dominion team has returned home this week with exceptional results. We made 4 NPHA western pleasure finals and returned home with one NPHA Champion title. As follows:
Barpassinova
Limited 2yo Western Pleasure Futurity: 4th place
2yo Western Pleasure Class: 3rd place
Loveme Tender
Limited Amateur Western Pleasure Futurity: 10th place
Amateur Western Pleasure Stakes: 9th Place
Radically Hotnblazing
Champion Yearling Led Trail
Yearling Lungeline Futurity: 6th place
We are particularly proud of the achievements of Barpassinova in amongst such a strong field of the countries best 2 year olds from all breeds. We have had a few breeders and trainers ask us over the past 2 years why we were bothering to train and show a solid paint bred horse. Her achievements in the show pen have now answered their question. We breed for quality horses first and foremost and will not compromise this in the pursuit of colour.
The paint horse is a breed, not just a colour and we will continue to lobby our national association for greater recognition of the solid Paint Bred horse. In particular we would like to see the association open up the national futurities to allow Paint Bred solids to compete on an equal footing with their brothers and sisters. We applaud the NSWPHA for undertaking this change 2 years ago and we hope that with continued pressure from the members, the PHAA will also do the same. To date the PHAA has initiated a token gesture by including a Paint Bred Western Pleasure futurity in the 2008 programme. If the class is poorly supported (which it will be) the class will be dropped from the 2009 programme. We request that the association bite the bullet and instead of creating token futurities which do nothing to increase participation of Paint Bred horses, open up the main futurities. Only then will the association see an increase in the overall participation of Paint Bred horses at the national show. Give them something worth coming to the show for and that is some competition!
We encourage other like minded breeders and competitors to continue to lobby the association and push for this change and hopefully together we can eventually help place our association in a position where it fulfills its moral and ethical responsibility to these horses which have the same pedigrees as their coloured counterparts.

As promised the 2007 Dominion show team is one of the best we have fielded yet. We took 4 horses to the PHAA National show last week and every horse has returned back to our farm with a National Champion or a Reserve National Champion title. Perhaps our biggest coup was taking out both the National Champion and Reserve National Champion titles in the Yearling Lungeline futurity with Blazing Hot N Spicy and Radically Hotnblazing respectively. The competition is always very tough at the national show for this event and we were over the moon with the performance of our great babies. They certainly are a testament to their fabulous dams and their great sire HF Somethin Hot, who incidentally was also the sire of the 2yo Winderadeen Playitagainsam who was undefeated in all 2yo events at the national show.
Our 2yo paint bred filly Barpassinova brought home the national champion titles for the Open Paint Bred Western Pleasure and the Open Paint Bred Trail against horses that were much more advanced than her in years. Loveme Tender our 3yo filly won the national title for the Open Western Pleasure Classic against a mixed field of senior and junior horses and placed in the top 5 in the majority of the events she was entered - including Hunter Under Saddle which was a very new event in her repotoire. She also brought home the Reserve National Champion title in the Junior Horse Trail which was exceptional given that it was only her second time to compete in this event.
Major results (full results to be added to our show team page shortly along with photos):
Blazing Hot N Spicy
National Champion Yearling Lungeline Futurity
Radically HotnBlazing

We have just returned from the 2007 Australian Halter Showcase (AHS) - once again a tremendous show and a credit to the organisers. If you have never been to this show, be sure to pencil it in as one of the "must attends" for next year. It is without a doubt the largest western all breeds show in Australia with big classes and a high standard of competition.
The Dominion team had a great show and it was nice to see some colour splashed in amongst all the plain chestnuts and bays. Of particular mention is our yearling filly Radically HotnBlazing who brought home the buckle as the 2007 AHS Champion Yearling on the Lunge. Radically Hotnblazing is by the imported quarter horse sire HF Somethin Hot, out of our Loots Image mare Loocille.
HF Somethin Hot also sired the winner of the 2007 AHS 2yo Western Pleasure Showcase so he certainly is one to watch as an upcoming sire in the Australian western pleasure scene. Our sincere congratulations go to the owners of HF Somethin Hot, Winderadeen Quarter Horses on their success at the show taking out the 2yo WP Showcase, the 3yo WP Showcase and the 3y and Over WP Showcase.
Other members of the Dominion team also featured prominently with our 2yo Paint Bred filly Barpassinova (sired by Cee A Barpasser) finalling in the 2yo Western Pleasure and placing in the top 10 overall. Loveme Tender, our 3yo paint filly (sired by Ten) was a finalist in the Limited Amateur Western Pleasure Showcase and placed 12th.

Our preparations are in now full swing for the Paint Nationals where we will add our other HF Somethin Hot yearling filly to our show team - Blazing Hot N Spicy . We look forward to seeing you all there. Please be sure to stop by our stalls and say hello.
On Tuesday October 17 we welcomed a group of students from Grafton TAFE for a tour of our stud and breeding facilities. It was an absolute pleasure to show these students around our farm and great to talk with them as they are as passionate about the horse industry as we are. We wish them well with their studies and future employment within the industry. Sorry we didn't have enough caps for one for each of you!
We are pleased to announce the arrival at our farm of frozen semen to the following World Champion stallions that we will be using this breeding season: One Hot Krymsun AQHA (3 time World Champion and Congress Champion) and The Big Sensation APHA (2 time unanimous World Champion) sired by the all time leading sire of Paint Horses Zippos Sensation.
Our final foal for the season has arrived on 6/10/06. A stunning chestnut filly by HF Somethin Hot out of Winderadeen High Currencee. Almost a paint... just an inch or so short of qualifying with one of her stockings!
16/9/06:. El Eban Deliverance delivered a big healthy solid chestnut filly by Ford Shameless Cowboy. Super flashy with 3 white socks and a blaze. Next to foal is Winderadeen High Currencee (HF Somethin Hot) due at the end of September.
Loocille foaled on Tuesday morning September 5, a solid chestnut filly by HF Somethin Hot. A gorgeous chestnut filly with a full blaze and white socks.
Our first foal has arrived for the season in the early hours of Friday August 18. A flashy solid chestnut filly dipped in chrome. 4 white stockings and a big white blaze by HF Somethin Hot out of Circle K Peppered Love.
